What is VR?

Physiopedia defines VR as  "a computer-based intervention providing patients with a virtual interactive and applicable treatment setting for skills practice with real-time feedback". There are different types of VR, immersive and non-immersive. Our product Resynk is a full immersive type of VR that still allows patients to be in control of their surroundings.

According to the National Library of Medicine, "inclusion of VR in the rehabilitation process has shown a promise for better functional outcomes, including the recovery of the damaged neural tissue and compensation of any functional alterations resulting from the injury". But just how safe is VR for these types of patients?

Is it Safe?

The main concerns when it comes to the safety of VR, especially in the neuro-rehab world are :-

  • Dizziness
  • Sore head
  • Motion sickness
  • Weight of the VR headset
  • Falls
  • Eye strain
  • Nausea

How we combat these safety concerns

    • Falls and Dizziness

Patients using our VR product remain seated, either in a chair or bed, eliminating concerns about falls or dizziness typically associated with standing in a virtual environment.

      • Head and Eye Comfort

          • To prevent sore heads or eye strain, you should take regular breaks.
          • Our games include breaks between exercises to ensure comfort.

      • Headset Comfort
        • A range of headset straps to distribute weight evenly, enhancing comfort during use, are available commercially

Proven safety and effectiveness

    • Horizon 2020 Trial Results:
